Hi, I'd like to attach pictures so that they appear at once in a thread and not only as attachment (I love to see pics at once, and would like to have it this way too if I post pics). In some threads I see it can work, so what's the trick????

Hi Honey (wie gehts?)

The difference is where the photo is hosted - if you use the upload at the bottom of the page (says "I want to attach a photo") and have the message board itself store the photo, then it appears as an attachment that you have to click on.

If the photo is hosted on another webserver, then you can use the 'image' code (look under instant UBB codes) and that will pull the photo so it shows *inside* your post itself.

Hope that helps!

Would it help if I had the pics stored in a webalbum like picuturetrail or something like that? Or must I have a real website? I don't want to refer to other threads on other boards since (according to my experiences) you never know what happens to your threads once you've posted them .

If your pictures are in a webalbum, that's fine. Just be sure the rules (of the web album) allow you to post pics from their site to other sites, otherwise they may revoke your account status and you won't be able to access ANY of your pictures .

Here's a link to Photobucket, a free image hosting site. I'm sure there must be others, too.

For all who want pics in posts without going through the hassle of uploading them to an image hosting site, here's the info (courtesy of MrsE who discovered the "trick" and Less who approved posting the info for all to use ):

1.) Make your post, attach your pic as usual and click the "Submit" button at which point your pic is then uploaded to the BTD server

2.) Go back and right click on the attachment to "open in a new window", open your post for editing then copy the "URL" from the browser "Address" window and "paste" into your post using the "Image" Instant UBB Code, then click "Continue"

3.) Now your pic should be in your post for everyone to enjoy!

If I've missed something or if you have a problem, just holler!

Edited to note: It may seem a bit confusing at first, but after you've done it a time or two, it goes along pretty easily and quickly.

I just realized when one of you guys here told me and I think it was you E, that if I wanted to copy a pic like a ring from ebay or from the new title owners of my house, Shenoa, then I just thought apparently pics that are already on the "Net" can be copied by their properties, so I did it with pics people had from BTD and it worked there too...so I thought, what the heck?! If everyone here is HALF as impatient as I am to DROOL, then I absolutely MUST start posting my pics RIGHT IN MY THREADS immediately!

LOL!

I understand the properties thing, but doing it this way you only have to copy the URL instead of going through the properties...which is cool (even though when you're in the properties you're just copy/pasting the URL anyway). It sort of cuts out a few steps (uploading them to a web album) but to complete the actual post requires you to post it with an attachment, then go back and edit it to include the picture in the body of it.

I do it exactly like Cyn explained it because all of my pics are in my comp and not online...
