I have several Ashas, Winefield's (still in love with my Vatche and OEC), and moissys and wear them often. Yes, there is a difference between the CZs and the moissy that you can tell if you know what to look for. If your family/friends are really knowledgeable about diamonds they might be able to spot the moissy due to its double refraction. The Ashas and Winefield's, however, they won't unless they use a loupe and really know what to look for. I suggest you order one of each and compare them yourself. Keep the one you love best and return the others.

My apologies, Wink. I really should learn to proof read my writing better before I post it. Folks, it is my Winfield's stones that I love so much.

IMO, all depend of the quality of the diamond. If you compare a diamond with a fair or good cut, it's possible that the sim look better or equal but if you compare with a diamond with an excellent or superior cut, the sim will look fade. The first Asha ring I had was an E-colored, 1.5ct H&A round brilliant solitaire. A friend of mine wanted to upgrade her E-colored, VVS .75ct RB genuine diamond. Her hubby's face said it all, when he looked at the Asha beside the diamond -- he was horrified that there was no visible difference even with a loupe. I decided I wanted an H-colored Asha, so my friend instantly bought the E-colored Asha from me, and wears it daily as her upgraded diamond.
For me... this story had no sense! One more time... if a diamond cut is not excellent it's possible that the simulant look more nice side by side but if you try to compare a simulant with a BEAUTIFUL diamond hey...impossible to make mistake!
If simulant where so fantastic, I suppose nobody want to pay for a real diamond no? Don't forget there is bad diamonds and it's not new... the quality of the cut is the first element to have a beautiful diamond.

I have a three stone ring with real RB .54 SI1 F colored diamond side stones and a RB 1.25 asha for the center and when I wore it into a jewelry store one of the sales people grabbed my hand and said "that is so gorgeous" he held it up close and took a good long look. Then he said it was very very nice. I fessed up that only the sides were real and he was shocked. All three stones sparkle like the dickens. I also have a three stone ring with .26 I1 k colored sides with a .5 moissanite center and they match perfectly and I would never ever be able to tell the center was not a diamond. I think both are very good choices and for me it really comes down to color...the ashas have a whiter color than most moissanite.

The story makes perfect sense to me. These simulants ARE fantastic, which is why I didn't pay for a mined diamond. Yes, the cut is essential in having a beautiful diamond, but I think what Cricketgrrl meant was she compared her Asha with her friend's very nice, very beautiful real diamond, and there was no difference between the two.

Wow girls! If it's true, I'm idiot to pay thousand dollars for a real diamond! But....... if I know it's a simulant, I won't feel confortable... What's my problem? It's in my head I think! Grrrr.....
