Sorry, to my old eyes the smaller stone looked like a different cut. Maybe it is the size difference, (although 1mm doesn't seem like a huge difference), I was fine with a 2 carat J color but when shown a 5 carat J color it had too much color for my taste. Hopefully you are able to return it and get another one. Good luck.

I agree the 8mm is a beautiful color.

I hear that! I originally had a 7mm cushion and 8mm round and the cushion had more saturation than the bigger stone; however, the round cut will show brighter as well, so that might be the reason on those.
They have a great return policy, so I'm sure that won't be a problem. I'm just disappointed. I really wanted to see what this great color could do in a large size. Plus, if this is truly kashmir rough, I want the sparklie sisters to have a heads up that all the stones are not the same and if they want saturated, it's best to ask for that. If this is a mistake and I ended up with a ceylon (which seems likely, the tone is violet), then saga over and it's all good. LOL!

Others have talked about violet tone in their Kashmirs, but the saturation is definitley different. But I recently learned that when growing gems, the actual crystal that grows varies in color/intensity from the center out. Also, the color shifts some. I think it's still somewhat of an art, rather than a science, so you can't really dial in colors, if you know what I mean. It would explain the variances.

I think it's still somewhat of an art, rather than a science, so you can't really dial in colors, if you know what I mean. I would explain the variances. I hear what you're saying, but the difference is so huge that they just can't be the same stone. If one was a bit lighter, but still had a kashmir color, then I get that, but one is light/medium lavender and the other is intense blue. The 8mm has violet undertones and I love it, so that is not what I mean. The 9mm is a true lavender/blue. That is a sketchy color difference. I would send it back and maybe talk to someone about the color difference -- maybe the warehouse/someone shipped the wrong item (light ceylon) instead of the Kashmir.
I would double check before I sent it back -- if the company made the mistake they may pay for return shipping and replacement shipping.
I work for a company that occasionally has mix ups (grabbed the wrong packing slip -- labeled boxes wrong (kashmirs labeled as light ceylon).
I really don't think the Kashmir's would have that distinct of a color difference. This has got to be human error. That's what I think too. The difference isn't slight. It resembles the last 2 I received in no way. I truly think this is a ceylon. I emailed Dana, so I'm just waiting to hear back. I would hope they would take care of the shipping both ways if it's not kashmir, as it's $24 to have it shipped and $10 for me to ship it back. If this is truly a kashmir then I'm done buying anymore unless they can give me approximately the same color as what I have now, as the shipping back and forth to find a good one would kill me LOL. Plus, if someone sees my stone and want one like it, if they buy one and get one like this other stone, they aren't going to be happy. There needs to be some consistency across the board, kwim?

Is it possible that one is a round sapphire cut and the other a round diamond cut? I was just about to say that but you beat me to the punch! I haven't seen an example of either, but it made me wonder.

Hi all, First apologies to Mamato3 about this - clearly there was a significant error at some point here. I've asked our office manager to review all of our Kashmir rounds and she didn't discover anything like this escapee, so that's the good news We'll cover the return shipping on this, so no issues there. I don't know if the stone was a light ceylon that was mixed up at the cutters or if this was an end piece of the rough, which can have color lightness like that and thus shouldn't have been cut...we'll know when it comes back though. Sorry again and thanks for posting the photos - makes it easy for us to correct as I just emailed the thread for follow up with our staff! Mamato3 - please just contact us via our website so we can get the return taken care of for you and apologies again as this one should not have made it out the door. Best regards Less

Hi Less! So glad to know the most are the way my 8mm round is, as the color is just incredible! I'm glad to know that I can expect more of the same going forward, especially since I'd like a custom cut. I shipped it back today and it should arrive Monday. I realized this evening when I went to check status on one of the other stones I returned that my return hadn't been authorized. I thought when I received the email with the number I was good to go. Sorry about that! I hope it doesn't cause any issues? I appreciate the follow up
