KatNewby, when are you getting your ring!!??? I am dying to see your finished sparklie.

You know I didn't wear a band for years. But I got tired of people asking when the wedding was going to be and did I just get engaged AND I did feel like it was uncomplete.

I did finally get a band that I wore on my other hand, but people still asked the same questions. Now, I HAVE to wear a band with my "e-ring". It feels incomplete without it and I have fallen in LOVE with stacking even if my fingers are short sausages. I do it anyways. haha.

I feel like he is toying with me at this point! He's had the ring for about a month in a half and he's hiding it frown lol I'm hoping (& kind of suspecting) he has something romantic planned for August.

I think wearing a wedding band would be nice, but my e-ring's shank is only 1.5-1.8mm with v-cut pave (1 pointers). It is going to be so impossibly delicate and I wouldn't want to risk hurting it by wearing a band against it.. Maybe someone else can speak to whether or not it would be a problem to pair a plain shank wedding band with it? Metal is palladium.

Stacking is such a beautiful thing, but I definitely don't have the fingers for it. I have muffin top after one ring! lol I just enjoy watching others do it wink Like Hadley, who in my mind is the stacking poster child! lol Can't wait to see some stacking on you Lorrissey!

Soldering an identical band beside it would be your safest bet actually. It would have to be soldered so it wouldn't rub and damage the stones... But the benefit would be increasing the strength of the band by essentially doubling the width.

That's interesting.. Can soldering be reversed without creating any damage? Thanks for the info btw, jcent!

I think so yes. They would most likely just solder in a few places. I would get it done and undone by someone well trusted for sure though. You found someone that will work with Pd already though right? As you will need the pave checked every 6 months anyway. If the shank starts to warp at all, it will increase your chances of losing stones. And a shank that thin could warp. It depends how you are planning on wearing it.

I haven't gotten the ring yet, and I haven't done a lot of research on someone to work with PD. I think I'd like to have it checked every 6 months by a local jeweler but for any work I'd send it to JbEG. The only reason I'd have another ring soldered to it is because I worry about the shank width. I recently heard a bad story about a 2mm v-cut shank and it kind of scared me. I do plan to be very very very careful with the ring though.

I bought an amphora ring holder necklace so that I can take it off whenever I need to to keep it safe.

We have had to repair some as well. My Cupcake is 2mm and I worry too. It is little things, like the off and on that can warp it. Or things that you don't think about, like picking up a heavier bag, holding a dog leash, clapping your hands... It is just the risk of thin shanks and pave.

Yeah, you will want to find someone, because shipping it off for prong checks every 6 months will add up. And you will be without your ring a lot.
