I love the Blue Nile app that allows you to build your own ring (my goodness I have wasted some time at work doing this!!!) .

I have finally decided that my new upgrade from Moissy Co will be the Cartier inspired three stone setting, and when I built the same ring on Blue Nile I was clocking up $30k! I chose diamonds F -H colour, VVSI and ideal cut. Then I looked in the gallery and drooled over rings that were the same size.

Have you done the same, and what does your ring with diamonds cost?

And a big shout out to everyone who offered advice as I fumbled around trying to decide on the perfect upgrade. I ended up deciding the three stone style would give the bling and finger coverage and make 3 carats more believable over a solitaire.

I actually got the idea for my 25th wedding anniversary ring from the Blue Nile setting: "the classic pear shaped sapphire engagement ring in platinum for larger diamonds". The ring would have cost me around 9,000 dollars if I had bought it from them with a 7mm J colored diamond.

Congrats on deciding what you want for your upgrade. The Cartier inspired three stone ring at Moissyco is a gorgeous setting and I have seen pictures of several of them on this board. Are you going with the 1.5 carat center and three quarter carat sides?

The size of the stones I have chosen are 7.5mm centre and 5mm sides, so that is 3 carats in total. I have tortured myself choosing between the three stone and a 8mm cushion solitaire. Like almost made myself crazy...

I did my halo engagement ring on Blue Nile. I used a J color (closest I could guess for my moissy) 1.25 carat and it would cost me $12,000!! Mine was $1500

Now I'm working on the cartier 3 stone as well. Peachy pink 7mm centre with 5mm sides. Looks like it will be over $10,000 as well! Wow! Mine is going to cost $1000 at moissyco

Thank you 2blingornot! I actually only realised this last night..and now I'm torn between 2.5 and 3 carats!! I think I'll go 2.5 carats..and see if I can keep shrinkage at bay!

The final price tag for my ering came in just under $1600.
A similar diamond (I/J, VS, 1.1ct) seems to run $2500-$5000ish depending on cut.
DK made my custom setting, which I think was a steal. The setting that served as the main inspiration seems to retail around $2000, and the cheapest I saw it for anywhere was $1500. DK's pave work is also of much higher caliber than most or all of the large retailers I visited.
So, $1600 vs. $5000ish?

I considered going with an even larger center stone (which would have meant even more "savings"), but I wanted my ring to look like something we could have possibly afforded, so I stayed around 1ct.

I have done this! My moissyco ring was just over $1,000. If I picked diamonds it would cost about $18k. My wedding band was $415. With diamonds it would have been around $1,800-$2,500.
