Hi sarabara :), I read your post and it really hit a nerve! For one, I also am a social worker and I am waiting for my new moissy ring set to arrive so I have had to think about how I will explain what they are if asked.

Long story short, I've decided that I bought moissys for several reasons, one being my dislike of blood diamonds and also because I love the way they sparkle.

I am going to tell workmates/friends that I traded my diamonds for these as an ugrade. Lying by admission? Not really, I don't want to explain myself and I believe I am entitled to my beliefs and I actually don't want to offend any diamond-wearing friends or co-workers.

Sounds like your co-worker is very much in love with the Canadian diamond story, don't feel guilty about her buying one! smile

I know there is a fine line between disclosing our beliefs in the workplace and maintaining our privacy..think about all the convos about relationships, childbirth, sex, drugs and rock and roll that women have!! I haven't always disclosed everything, becasue I have a right to privacy.

Enjoy your moissy, I'm sure she will enjoy her diamond!

Lying is lying yes...but I guess I feel that sometimes we are all a little entitled to lie. I don't think we have to be honest with strangers or acquaintances if we don't want. Especially when the lie is about our things and our lives. Just because they ask or assume does not mean that I have to fill them in on every secret and detail of my life. I consider myself an honest person but lie all the time, lol. I lie to my 2 year old, and like someone else already said, I lie to not hurt people's feelings or make them feel better about things. An I lie when I simply do not want to tell someone the truth... like when the lady at the DMV asks me how much I weigh. I always lie and take off 10lbs And I really do not feel guilty for any of.

I wear my moissy for moissy because I simple don't care, and because I sell it, lol. So I want to bring people over to the dark side, but I don't think you have to disclose anything if you don't want.

I also don't think omission or letting people assume is always lying (although sometimes it certainly is). I have gotten many compliments on my ring and I don't explain that the stone is not a diamond. I just say 'thank you." I also don't disclose that I cover my gray when someone compliments my hair or that I had braces if someone compliments my smile. If someone says "You have such a cute figure." I don't feel compelled to disclose that I am wearing a push up bra. wink It just isn't necessary and is not lying, IMO. Now, if they started asking specific questions about my 'diamond' then I'd have to figure out something because I am not comfortable with bold faced lying.

I love this, Morning Glory! So true about braces...bras...really gets to the point. Why is it hard for many of us to simply answer a compliment with a "thank you"? I'm working on this myself.
