I bought a Verragio solitaire setting that used to have a 1.03 round diamond in it but currently has a 1ct. round cz. I would like to replace the round cz with one of the Antique cushion Ashas that were restocked. I am not sure what size of Antique cushion to get - 6mm or 6.5mm? Or maybe neither would work? Does anyone know which size I should choose?
Thank you for your help.........

I think you would want the 6mm cushion as it will face up about the same sice as the 6.5mm round that's currently in the setting.

I don't know much here. But I know I just received my 1.5 ct cushion cut in a tiffany setting. I thought it would be bigger? It's nice and I really like it. My ring size is a size 5 and I have small hands so I'm going to keep it because it looks great. I had thought about returning it, but then I'd have to pay the resociking fee, pay for the box it came in- because it was actually broken, the difference between the 1.5ct and the 2ct, and the shipping because it was free.

I guess I thought it would be bigger because I am used to wearing a round cut. Well a 1ct round is 6.5mm, and a 1.5ct cusion is 6.5mm.

So I'd say get the 1.5 ct(6.5mm) because it would probably look about the same size as your 1ct round did.

You would more than likely need the 6mm. As a general rule, when estimating what size cushion is needed for a round setting, you need to go about .5mm smaller than the size of the round stone the mount takes.

IE, 6.5mm round, 6mm cushion
8mm round, 7.5mm cushion

I just did this - my setting originally held a 7.7mm round and I set a 7mm Asha Cartier Cushion and it turned out wonderfully.

If possible, have the ring evaluated by the jeweler whose going to do the setting of the Asha cushion. I take it that would be AshaDiamonds? If yes, depending on the style of the mount and maybe if the style is such you can get just a bit more room by retipping the prongs verses trying to work with the cuts already there, you could go up to a 6.5mm. The only way to know for sure is for them to see the mount in person so they can evaluate the setting and let you know the options.
