The "Duo" stud earrings offer a clean,
modern look that minimizes the setting and optimally
shows off the center stone. This hand-fabricated
setting traditionally has been used exclusively on
high-end diamonds, because it is labor intensive to
set stones this way. The "Duo" earring
setting is also the lowest earring setting we offer,
placing the stone right up against the ear. |

Unlike traditional basket settings, the Duo setting leaves the
stone mostly open so that it can catch and reflect more
light. Also, since only two small prongs are visible
from the front of the earring, the stone appears to be free of
any enclosure. |

As can be
seen on the picture on the right, the setting is wrapped snuggly around the stone by the
stone setter, securing it in place. The stone is also set
into the metal mounting on the culet from the bottom.
Unlike a traditional basket setting where the stone is secured
only on the top by prongs, the Duo setting secures the stone
from the top, the bottom, and all around. |
