Our Avarra™ lab-grown colombian emeralds, in Emerald Cut.
Shown here in a very rare C grade with visible inclusions, these are examples of our current 8x10mm emerald cuts available for immediate shipping:
We also have A/B grade emeralds in stock with no visible inclusions, or with inclusions visible only under strong magnification.
These are *real* emeralds, with identical chemical, optical and physical attributes, the same as mined emeralds. The Colombian reference is due to the hint of blue within the overall green color. Mined Colombian Emeralds are famous for this and have a roughly 20% price premium versus other mined Emeralds.
The only difference is these are grown under heat and pressure in a laboratory, rather than mined. The process takes about one month and produces an approx. 100ct piece of emerald rough, which is then cut into smaller finished stones.
Sizes are listed in mm, carat weight and then Diamond Equivalent (DE) carat sizes.
The actual carat weight of an emerald is lower, but customers tend to 'visualize' the emerald based on how an equivalent diamond would be.
A note regarding clarity:
We are offering our Avarra emeralds in an A/B clarity grade. These are typically eye clean but may have small inclusions visible under close inspection or strong magnification. C grade with more visible inclusions is quite rare, however those will be listed when we do have them available.
Our Avarra emeralds are grown via hydrothermal method, and thus the inclusions present are the same found as those in natural emeralds.
Most sizes are in stock, however if we are sold out we can have an emerald cut for you so feel free to send us an email to check our available inventory if your order is time-sensitive.
"I bought an emerald from you, 1.2 carats. It arrived, beautiful. |
General Information:
Top quality mined emeralds can easily top the value of natural diamonds. And within the world of emeralds, Colombian emeralds are usually valued the highest due to their intense color with just a hint of blue. Mined Colombian emeralds will typically sell for 10%-20% higher premium than emeralds from other countries.
We are thus pleased to announce, that after 7 years of research, lab-grown Colombian Emeralds are now a reality and we are pleased to offer them to our customers.

Wanted to let you all know that I took one of your emeralds (emerald cut 9x7) into my jeweler today for some bench work. She complimented it three times - on what a lovely stone it was, what a great job you all did. I have earth diamonds, I have Ashas, I have Avarra sapphires, but by far my favorite are your lab emeralds.

The first Avarra Emerald I bought was a 9x7 emerald cut off of the bistro in your Tiffany setting. It is amazing and I immediately feel in love with it. The amazing saturated blue green color, the way it throws green sparkles in the sun the way a diamond throws rainbows. Wow! Had to come to your site to order stones for earrings and a pendent.
The ring that I bought was a grade C (custom cut). I bought two grade A stones for the earrings and a grade C 9x7 for the pendent. The ring is less included than the stone for the pendent, which I think is due to the custom cut of the ring, but is still a beautiful green color – milky and rich. The A is a little to 'perfect' for my taste, but being that they are earrings of a smaller size, they still work. I had to take the ring to be sized and the jeweler commented numerous times on the stone and it's natural inclusions.
I would highly recommend Avarra emeralds - beautiful color, conflict free, and environmentally sound.

...gets more positive attention than any other ring I have worn, be it a diamond, Asha, designer, whatever...
It's a B-grade.
It's fun taking it to a fine jewelry store. Face up it is a conundrum. Looks like an emerald, but too good to be natural, too good to be fake. Must be something else they think! Then they loupe it and see it does have inclusions. "What is this, again?" "WHERE did you get this?" "My late great-great Aunt from Nova Scotia bequethed it to me," I say. haha (not really)

I bought an emerald from you, 1.2 carats. It arrived, beautiful.
I took it to a jeweler that I've dealt with for about 15 years and told them I wanted a custom ring made with this emerald (bezel setting). The only thing I told the jeweler was that I purchased the emerald online.
I picked up the ring...and it is just what I wanted. The jeweler provided an appraisal for the new ring. He valued the replacement value at $4,000.00. This is a quote from the GIA
gemologist:
"One bezel set emerald modified step cut natural emerald,...approximate weight of 1.42ct., clarity is eye clean, type III, medium light, moderately strong, green color, (GIA G 4/4), cut is good."
Needless to say, I am thrilled with my purchase.
